Program Animal Keeper
The Program Animal Keeper assists with the husbandry of the program animals for the Education Department of the Brandywine Zoo. Additionally, this position assists with coordinating on and off-site programming for the zoo, including family programs and other visitor experiences (animal shows, close encounters, exhibit interpretation, etc.). For off-site animal shows this position will be responsible for transportation of the animals. This position will assist in other program areas as necessary. Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled. This position is year-round, seasonal, 29.5 hours/week. Closes 2/18/16.

Year Long Positions

American Kestrel Research Apprentice
The Brandywine Zoo is working with the American Kestrel Partnership to research nesting kestrels in the state of Delaware. Research apprentices will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and monitoring of kestrel nest boxes across the state of Delaware, logging data and creating research parameters. At this time, the goals of this research are identifying kestrel habitat as well as presence and absence, in order to collect baseline information for Delaware for future research.

Program Animal Education Intern (stipend, year-long, housing available)
The role of the Zoo Educator is to lead informal and formal education opportunities both on and off site, serves as a lead educator for summer programs, and assists with special events. This position also helps maintain the program animal collection daily. Closes 3/28/15.

Zoo Keeper Apprentice
The intern will function as a member of the animal care team for the duration of the internship. This unique opportunity will offer the chance to gain valuable knowledge into the workings of zoological institutions and the basics of animal husbandry techniques employed by zoos today. It is a hands-on position and the intern will be expected to be involved in all facets of the zoo's animal care program.

3-6 Month Positions

2016 Zoo Camp Intern (stipend positions, housing may be available)
The Brandywine Zoo Education Department is seeking fun, mature and engaging educators for our seasonal full-time Zoo Camp Educator Internships. These internships are through the Delaware State Park Internship Program. A limited number of stipend internships are available for highly qualified candidates, housing may be available.T he Brandywine Zoo's Internships offer hands-on experience for individuals who want to explore a profession in Zoo Education and Day Camp Management. We're looking for people with great people skills (especially children!), self-starter, mature, energetic; positive; creative; fun; safe, conscientious; and a natural leader who gets along well with others. Reptile Show & Live Animal Encounter Intern - Summer 2016 (nonstipend, part time)
Brandywine Zoo is seeking outgoing applicants with a dynamic personality for Reptile Show and other live animal public presentations. Reptile shows are held Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the peak season (May-September), with three weeks of full shows in June, July, and August. Closes 4/1/16.

Outreach Program Intern - Summer 2016 (nonstipend, part time)
This is a 3-5 day per week position, typically working 8am - 4pm. Some weekends or evenings may be required. This person will serve as an offsite Educator and work as part of the Education Department at the Brandywine Zoo. The role of the Outreach Program Intern is to lead and/or assist with our Traveling Zoo program, which runs informal and formal education opportunities, or attends special events, offsite for the Zoo during the summer. Varying length Education Internships (nonstipend)
These positions are flexible, ranging from 2-3 days per week over 3-6 month periods (12 weeks minimum). Education interns work in the Education Department of the Brandywine Zoo. The role of the Education Intern is to lead informal and formal education opportunities both on and off site and assist with special events. May include some husbandry, depending upon availability. This is a rolling admission position, and applicants will be reviewed as they are received.

Graphics and Marketing Intern (nonstipend)
Brandywine Zoo is seeking a dynamic and engaging person to join our team! We are searching for a dedicated candidate to fill a 12-15 weeks minimum time commitment. This is a flexible, part-time, 10-30 hour a week position. This person will serve as a Graphics and Marketing intern and work with the Education Department at the Brandywine Zoo designing graphics for exhibits and programs as well as coordinating vendors and donations for upcoming special events. This is a rolling admission position, and applicants will be reviewed as they are received.
