Please join us for an upcoming special event at the Brandywine Zoo!

All events are free with your paid admission to the zoo unless otherwise indicated.



December

Saturday, December 10 & Sunday, December 11, 9am - 10am
Breakfast with Santa
Everyone knows Santa loves reindeer but many don't know how much he loves the Brandywine Zoo animals. This breakfast event is extra special because you'll get to dine with Santa! A hot pancake breakfast and buffet will be served, brought to you by Janssen's Market and ShopRite. Share your holiday wishes with Santa, bring your camera to take photos with him and some animal friends, make decorations and enjoy a few up-close animal encounters all before the zoo opens. Finish the morning by strolling through the zoo at your leisure to watch our zoo keepers work and see the animals eating their breakfast! Pre-registration required, as space is extremely limited; so register early!

Saturday December 10, Two Sessions: 10:30am or 11:15am
Milk and Cookies with Santa
Change your name from "naughty" to "nice" before it's too late, and have some Milk and Cookies with Santa! Don your reindeer ears, bring your wish list and snap a pic with Santa! Don't forget your holiday cheer... Bring your camera! Space is limited, so register early!

Members: $10/person | Non-Members: $13/person

Noon Year's Eve
Celebrate the New Year Zoo-style by ringing in the New Year at NOON! We'll have games, crafts, and a celebratory atmosphere and of course a sparkling cider toast as the clock strikes 12 (Noon that is!). Program takes place in the zoo so dress for the weather! (Program fees will begin charging at Admission Gates starting at 10am). Guest Passes will not be accepted for this event.

January 2017

Sunday, January 1, 10am - 10:30am
First Day Hike
Join us for a "hike" through the zoo to kick off the New Year. Tour the zoo with an educator and learn about how we care for our animals in the winter!



February 2017

Saturday, February 4, 1pm - 2:30pm
Zoo Camp Open House
The early bird gets the worm, so be one of the first to sign up for our popular spring and summer zoo camps and receive a discount on this day only! Register for spring and summer camps and receive a $5.00 discount for each special holiday camp or summer mini-camp and a $10.00 discount for each week of full day camp. Enjoy live animal presentations; meet zoo staff, and make-and-take a zoo camp craft! Open House takes place in the Education Building.

Spring ReZOOvenation - Spring Reopening!
Visit the zoo as the environment is getting ready to burst to life for the spring season! Join us for a fun afternoon of activities and learning stations centered on all our zoo friends. Don't miss this event! Help us welcome spring and leave behind the cold of winter!

Intern Open House: Summer Zoo Internships for High School and College Students (Ages 14-and up)
Join us to find out about more about the Zoo's unique summer internship program for Zoo Camp and other internships! The Open House will meet in the education building. Saturday, April 8, 4pm - 6pm
Scout Night at the Brandywine Zoo
Enjoy an evening at the Zoo for scouts and their families! Participants for this program get to enjoy special after-hours admission to the zoo when it closes to the public! There will be games, crafts, and activities all geared toward scout requirements. Brandywine Zoo patches will be available for purchase.

This outdoor event takes place twice a year, in the spring and fall, so please dress for the weather. See the listing below for requirements met.

Fee: $10/person, includes scouts, parents, siblings, and additional leaders. One leader free for every 15 scouts registered.Click here for more information.

Earth Day Celebration
What can YOU do to help save species? Join us for our annual Party for the Planet to learn what you can do to make EVERY DAY Earth Day. Stop by a learning station or talk with a volunteer docent, meet live animals, and learn what you can do to make EVERY DAY Earth Day.

Friday, April 28, 10am - 12:30pm
Earth Day Event for School Groups!
Take a self-guided tour through the zoo as we Party for the Planet! Stop at various conservation activity stations that meet several education standards and sign up for a time for your school group to have a special live animal program in our Education Building. Pre-registration strongly suggested as space is limited. Rain Date Monday, 5/1/17

To Register: DOWNLOAD a registration form and email to the Education Department at Education@BrandywineZoo.org or fax to 302-577-7480. Groups must be pre-registered to reserve space in the live animal shows.

Fee: Free with Zoo admission. Live animal shows are an additional $1/participant and groups must register with the Education Department.

Saturday, May 13
One Day Only: Star Wars Day

Breakfast with the Empire, 9:30am - 10:30am
Join us for an exclusive breakfast at the zoo before our zoo-wide public photo event! Have breakfast with some of your favorite characters and take photos with them in the zoo before it opens to the public.

Fee: $20 per person (no member discount for this event). Reservations required, as limited spaces will be sold.



Public Photo Event, 12pm - 3pm
May the Fourteenth be with you! Bring your camera, as the Empire invades the Brandywine Zoo today! Meet some of your favorite Star Wars characters and even take photos with them! It's free to take photos with the characters, but donations are encouraged. All donations will benefit the Delaware Zoological Society.

Fee: Free with admission to the zoo. Pre-sale tickets, $5/person (ages 3+), will be available online until April 30. DZS Members free.

Friday, May 19, 10am - 12:30pm
Endangered Species Day School Event
Learn the importance of protecting endangered plants and animals and what actions can be taken to help preserve the future of these species in Delaware and beyond. Visit various learning stations set up throughout the Zoo to learn what you can do to End Extinction! Plus, sign up for a time for your school group to have a special live animal program in the Zoo's Education Building.

End of School Year Celebration with 99.5 WJBR
Enjoy a visit at the zoo with J. Bear, WJBR's mascot, along with Rocky Bluewinkle from the Delaware Blue Rocks and the Delaware 87ers' Caesar! Learn about family fun activities that you can do this summer!

Saturday, June 10, 12pm - 3:30pm
World Ocean's Day
Learn about what YOU can do to help the oceans, starting right here in Delaware. Activity and learning stations throughout the zoo will help you become a better ocean steward.

Tuesday, June 20, 6pm - 8pm
Family Fun Night
Special evening hours hosted by 93.7 FM WSTW. Meet radio personalities and enjoy special games, activities, and of course, live animals! $1 hot dogs and soft drinks, too! Free parking. Rain date Wednesday, June 21. Fee: $1 admission for everyone.

Have you ever wanted to have breakfast with a beast? Join us for a hot breakfast in the zoo and enjoy the zoo to yourself before it opens to the public. Enjoy your breakfast as the animals get theirs, as well as a special story and a live animal presentation. Stuffed Animal Vet Clinic
Is your stuffed animal under the weather? Teddy feeling a bit blue? Bring your favorite stuffed animal, or adopt one from the gift shop, to get a checkup with our Zoo Veterinarian. Stuffed animals might get their vitals checked, bandaged or given 'medicine' to make sure they have a clean bill of health before heading home with you!

International Tiger Day
Celebrate our Amur tiger Zhanna and International Tiger Day! The goal of this day is to promote a global protection of tiger habitats as well as raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues. Stop by a learning station, talk with a zoo volunteer, or join us for a special tiger-focused keeper talk to learn about international tiger awareness and what YOU can do to help!

International Red Panda Day
Become a Red Panda Ranger! A Red Panda Ranger is a special title given to a child who has learned about red pandas and is ready to spread the word about the importance of conservation. Join us in the zoo today to learn about Red Pandas, submit art for our Red Panda Art Contest and even earn your 'Red Panda Ranger' badge!

Friday, September 22, 5:30pm - 9pm
Brew at the Zoo, and Wine Too! (Ages 21+)
Enjoy locally brewed craft beer & wine, delicious tastings from area restaurants, a silent auction, and an evening with the animals! Pre-registration recommended, as tickets will sell out. Guests must be 21 to be admitted. RAIN OR SHINE.



October 2017

Boo at the Zoo
Trick-or-Treat at the Brandywine Zoo! Celebrate Halloween Brandywine Zoo-style with this merry, not scary, event. Kids can trick-or-treat through the zoo as it gets dark in their Halloween costumes!
