The Education Department offers special programs for specific age groups except during the summer months. Read about some of the wonderful programs below.

    Zoo Toddler Programs
    For ages 18 months - 3 years

    The Brandywine Zoo offers programs specially designed for children 18 months to 3 years old. These fun-filled frolics into the animal world may include a story, a live animal visit, and a craft. All children must be accompanied by an adult. One adult is admitted free for each participating child. Programs are held in the Education Building. Space is limited, so pre-registration is strongly suggested.

    Fee: $8 per child; $6 per child for Delaware Zoological Society.

    Capy Fun!
    What in the world is a capybara? Learn about these interesting mammals in this program that focuses on the world's largest rodent!

    ZooKids
    For ages 4-6

    Calling all kids ages 4-6! Bring your adult to the Zoo for an afternoon of exploration into the animal world. All children must be accompanied by an adult and be within the correct age bracket on the day of the program. One adult is admitted free for each participating child. Space is limited to 15 children, so pre-registration is strongly suggested. Programs begin in the Education Building. Walk-ins are welcome, if space is available.

    Junior Zoo Naturalists
    For ages 7-13

    Around the World in 5 hours
    Join us for a ZOOtastic trip around the world! Discover from where in the world our furry friends frolic, and learn some neat native cultural legends and stories that are associated with our awesome animals. Program begins in the Education Building and includes a pizza lunch, a zoo tour, outdoor activities, and more! Dress for the weather. Parents can drop off and pick up their children at the Education Building.

    Fee: $20 per child; $15 per child for Delaware Zoological Society Members.

    Scout Day
    An Event for Boys and Girls!

    Calling all Cub Scouts, Juniors and Brownies! The Brandywine Zoo hosts events designed just for scouts and their families. During these events, enjoy games, crafts, and activities all geared toward meeting scout requirements. The program will begin at the Education Building (located next to the Exotic House.) Activities will take place in the Zoo, so please be sure to dress for the weather. All participating Scouts will receive a Brandywine Zoo patch!

    Fee: $8.00 per person (this includes leaders, chaperones, parents, and siblings); Program fee applies for Zoo Members as well. Space is limited, please register early!

    Earth Day: Party for the Planet, Curious About Frogs!

    Are you Curious about FROGS and other amphibians? Then join Curious George and take a hop on the WILD side in celebration of our fragile earth at our Party for the Planet, Curious About Frogs! Learn how to become an environmentally frog-friendly family through fun amphibian-related conservation games, stories, crafts, live animal presentations, plus... Meet the friend of the frogs, CURIOUS GEORGE, Live! Brought to you in partnership with WHYY PBS Kids & PNC BANK.

    For ONE Hour from 9AM to 10AM Curious George will be here for Brandywine Zoo Members and WHYY-PBS KIDS CLUB members only. Show your current membership cards for either the Zoo or Kids Club at the admission gate and you will have the zoo and Curious George all to yourselves with full crafts and zoo activities going on.

    Boys and Girls of all ages bring your adult and your favorite stuffed animal to this delicious event designed to discover animal diets. This event begins in the Education Building with an introduction to the program and a live animal presentation. Then we'll explore the zoo together and participate in the various fun, food-related animal activities. The day will be rounded out with a sumptuous spot of tea (or other beverages) and yummy treats.     Celebrating Wild Moms!

    Zoo Fiesta

    The Brandywine Zoo and the Latin American Community Center are working together to provide a WILD Fiesta! Learn about endangered species from Latin Countries and more importantly learn how YOU can make a difference! This bilingual event will include: animal maraca craft, face painting, parade of children in native costume, music, poster contest, crafts, and more...all in Spanish and English! What's a fiesta without a piñta? Observe several Zoo animals, including our tiger, play with their own special piñtas!

    Bring the whole gang to the zoo for our annual holiday celebration. Help us decorate our zoo wildlife tree with edible treats that will give a winter lift to our wild friends. Share a warm winter snack and take this opportunity to wish your animal friends "Happy Holidays!" This is an outdoor event, so dress for the weather. This program is great for families and groups.
